Zemach Shabad was a Jewish doctor. In 2007, Zemach Shabad was honored with a monument in Vilnius, reflecting the fact that he was the prototype of a kind Doctor Aybolit in a fairy tale written by Korney Chukovsky. "He was the kindest person I have ever known in my life. He treated the children from poor families for free. ... And in the mornings, I noticed, many people lined up for him. Children not only came to him, but also brought sick animals.
